Check-out problems? Update RevMan

Only the most recent versions of RevMan can handle Reviews with publication info with issue numbers greater than four (the old number of Cochrane Library issues per year). Users with an older version will encounter an error ("Thread: CheckOut. java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No enum const class [...])". when trying to check out such a review.

To get the latest version (currently 5.0.24), use Help > Check for Updates from within RevMan, or go to the Download section.

New RevMan update (5.0.24)

This update includes the License for Publication Form for overviews of reviews and 6 bug fixes (details).

Problems with the update? The first version of the update distributed on Friday 16 April at 2 pm GMT had a problem that prevented RevMan from opening. We fixed this problem after one hour and released a new update. If RevMan can no longer start after installing the erroneous update, please install the fixed update available here (download the Java 5 edition).

About the IMS

The Cochrane IMS has two main components:

Our central server for managing documents, contacts details and workflows, Archie

Archie and Revman Archie RevMan

RevMan is the software used for preparing and maintaining Cochrane reviews.

Together, they enable contributors to the Cochrane Collaboration to meet the demands of producing high quality systematic reviews of the evidence of the effects of healthcare and deliver these for publication in The Cochrane Library and elsewhere.

Future IMS development

Possible future IMS development is described in the IMS budget request 2009-2012.

The Cochrane Collaboration

The Cochrane Collaboration is an international not-for-profit and independent organization, dedicated to making up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of healthcare readily available worldwide. The Cochrane Collaboration uses the IMS to produce the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews which is published monthly as part of The Cochrane Library.

About this site

We aim to provide you with all the information you need about the current and future IMS. You can use the tabs at the top to move between the main areas of the site; within each area you will find a navigation panel on the left. The main areas of the website are:

  • RevMan, the software used for writing Cochrane reviews (with links to GRADEpro, Meerkat and RevBase software).
  • Archie, the Cochrane Collaboration's central server for managing documents and contact details.
  • Support, a list of all the resources to get support for and from the IMS.
  • The Organization behind the IMS.
