1. Top Tips for Authors using Archie and RevMan 5

The 'Top Tips for Authors using Archie and RevMan 5' document is now available on the Authors' IMS page at authors.

2. Update on Stage 2 of the workflow pilot

Thank you to the 24 new CRGs who contacted Monica Kjeldstrøm to express their interest, or to reconfirm their earlier expressions of interest, in joining Stage 2 of the workflow pilot. We are delighted to receive so many expressions of interest but as Monica mentioned in her message to Adminors and Co-eds on 18 December 2008, we will have to limit the number of CRGs who can participate and be supported by us in Stage 2 of the workflow pilot. We are therefore currently preparing a document to provide you with more information about what it means to be involved in Stage 2 of the pilot. We will send this document, along with a few questions for you to consider, before we speak to the RGCs of interested CRGs; not only to help us decide which CRGs should participate in the Stage 2 pilot but also to help the CRGs decide if it is appropriate for them to join now or wait until Stage 3 when all CRGs will be eligible to join the pilot.

Given the upcoming quarterly submission deadline, we do not intend to contact RGCs about their interest in joining the Stage 2 pilot until the week commencing Monday, 23 February. We will provide you with the document on what it means to be involved in Stage 2, and our questions, before that date so that RGCs and Co-ordinating Editors have time to consider the implications for their CRGs before we speak to RGCs.

Stage 2 of the workflow pilot is scheduled to start in March 2009.

3. Authors editing their own contact details

We are aware of problems that can be caused by authors who update or edit their own contact details, as well as the problems that can be caused by Super Users of other Entities who do not respond to suggestions from you to edit an author's contact details. Please remember that IMS Support can help you resolve such problems.

4. Question of the week

Question: I tried to convert a RevMan 4 file by opening it in RevMan 5 but it wouldn't convert; instead I received an error message. What should I do?
Answer: We suggest that you open the file in RevMan 4.3 and save it as an XML file before opening the r4x file in RevMan 5 (File > Open).
